I bet you thought that I forgot about posting for Wayback Wednesday! Well you are wrong my friend. Although I have to say that this post will hit home the most (or at least until the next Wayback Wednesday). I read a blog post on Wall Street Plaza’s blog that One Eyed Jack’s & The Loaded Hog will be closing down.
I read a blog post on Wall Street Plaza’s blog that One Eyed Jack’s & The Loaded Hog will be closing down shortly after Cinco de Mayo for renovation on a new venue. This brought many tears to my eyes after hearing this news. At the same time it also brought back many fond memories.
As a young Man Behind the Clouds, my buddies and I would hit up One Eyed to go drink our faces off. When I first moved to Orlando and started making friends, we practically lived at One Eyed Jack’s. People like us would pack it in on Friday and Saturday nights to enjoy cheap drinks (or shots) and dance the night away. These two bars were really like going to Cheers because everybody knew our names. Plus it didn’t hurt that we were tight with the owners and the bartenders.
If I close my eyes and just listen, I can hear DJ Larry playing Souljah Boy, Sweet Child O’ Mine, Baby Got Back, or basically anything that we requested him to play. As the night came to a close, he would play Closing Time. This was a reminder to finish your whiskey or beer! You don’t have to go home but you… can’t… stay… here! Anyone else feeling super nostalgic?
Well I need to wrap this up before I start to cry all over my keyboard. That ’bout wraps up another great installment of Wayback Wednesday. Before you close out make sure you share your favorite One Eyed Jack’s or Loaded Hog memory by leaving a comment.
I raise my glass and say thanks for the memories One Eyed & Loaded Hog!
