R&B Music

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s was rather interesting when it came to music.  Especially since I grew up in the suburbs of North Attleboro where everybody rocked to hair bands or pop artists.  However out of the ashes came the sweet and soulful sounds of R&B music.

So we are going to hop in the proverbial time machine and take you back to some great R&B artists and songs in this edition of “Do You Remember?”  So turn the lights low, light up some candles, and hug someone close!

  • Shai – If I Ever Fall In Love
  • Silk- Freak Me
  • Blackstreet – No Diggity
  • Soul For Real- Candy Rain
  • Mary J. Blige – Real Love
  • Montell Jordan – This Is How We Do It
  • Bell Biv Devoe – Poison
  • Boyz II Men – Motownphilly
  • Ginuwine – Pony
  • Next – Too Close
  • Aaliyah – Back and Forth
  • Monica – Don’t Take It Personal

Well I have shared just a small taste of R&B goodness and boy oh boy did it taste so sweet!  Since I have shared some of my favorite jams, I want to hear yours! Share your favorites by commenting on this post, tweeting them to me (@ManBehindClouds) or leave them on the Facebook fan page (Man Behind Clouds).  Well I hope you enjoyed the ride in the time machine. I don’t know about you but I am going to hop on iTunes and grab some of these jams!

  1. Hey! I remember when i would take Kevin’s All 4 One CD and put I Swear on repeat!!
Also, i don’t know if this falls under the R&B Genre, but i liked Killing me Softly by the Fugees

  2. When I saw the article title the first song that popped into my head was Set Adrift on Memory Bliss by PM Dawn. Cumbersome title, but awesome song–and sampled to this day. I’m rockin’ it as I post this comment. Great list though.

      • In the spirit of R&B and it’s history of helping people set the mood since–well forever…I had to “hit it” twice. How about some L.L. doin’ well, or hey lover. And I’ve got to drop almost ANYTHING by Hall & Oates–yes, white dudes can be soulful (well 2 of them can anyway), and one rocked a porn stash that even Ron Jeremy, Ron Burgundy, and Magnum P.I. would be proud of. Keep the hits comin’ MBTC it’s all good stuff.
